Garden Ridge Bike Rodeo

On Sunday, March 27th, Cornerstone Church welcomed former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, in grand style. Opening with several patriotic songs, the choir performed the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "America The Beautiful," and, of course, our National Anthem- all to the delight of the more than 2,000 people in attendance. The event was open to the public and the conservative, potential presidential candidate was eager to share his views with the audience.

Bracken V olunteer Fire Department

BVFD was formed in 1968 with guidance from Roman Schertz (of the Alamo Heights FD) and began as a completely volunteer fire station. Assistant Fire Chief Bill Anz (who's been with BVFD since high school) says when they got their first truck in August 1969, it was immediately used to help extinguish a huge grass fire in New Braunfels, involving more than 175 firefighters.
